Tony Ferguson is not happy with the fact that his bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov stands canceled yet again. The two were set to fight in the greatest Lightweight event in history on April 18.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus has created havoc across the globe. With the USA being a major victim of the pandemic, the situation over at Khabib’s training gym deteriorated to an unworkable extent.
Thus, the UFC Lightweight Champion rushed to Abu Dhabi, from where he went on to Russia. The Dagestani was still in Russia when the country imposed travel restrictions. And now, he is stuck there.

This is the fifth time that a fight between the two was scheduled, but could not take place. And just like the fans, El Cucuy is frustrated with the recurring cancellation of the fight. In an interview with ESPN, he said,
“Honestly, I was very upset. He was in Abu Dhabi. [He] had the chance to be able to come back before the borders were closed in Russia. Decided to go back to Dagestan, not finish his training camp. The guy does not want to fight. He’s scared, running and should be stripped of his title.”
Carrying on about Khabib, he said,
“We scared him. This is the second time we punked him out. I’ve been doing the exact same thing for 8 years. Khabib’s a b*tch. I told him I was gonna mop the fu**ing floor with his hat, the dude jammed out.”
Tony Ferguson is still going strong at the gym
In light of the recent events, there is a lot of panic and confusion in the air. The Eagle, too, stated that he will not participate in UFC 249 as he has to take care of his family and loved ones.
Moreover, the UFC has yet to decide a location for the event. Ferguson stated that the UFC has asked him to hold on for the announcement of the location. And since there is no confirmation regarding the location, there is also no confirmation regarding his opponent.

Nevertheless, Ferguson is not backing down in the face of adversity mass confusion. In the interview with Ariel Helwani, he said that while absolutely nothing is confirmed as of now, he is still going strong with his training. He said that while the real heroes (doctors and those who are on the frontline) risk their lives to save us, he will do anything he can to provide any form of hope.
However, with his opponent still not decided, there is an extremely high amount of uncertainty in his mind. The fact that he is still going on unabashed speaks volumes about his warrior spirit.
