There was a time when the flyweight division was about to be erased from UFC. However, Henry Cejudo saved the day when he defended his flyweight title against TJ Dillashaw.

Cejudo’s dominant performance against Dillashaw forced UFC president, Dana White to keep the flyweight division. But just after saving an entire division being cut Cejudo moved up to bantamweight division to cement his legacy as a two-division champion.

Well, Henry Cejudo fulfilled that dream of his too when he beat Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title. But he had to relinquish his flyweight title as he was not eager to go through the excruciating weight cut to make 125 lbs.

However, it seems Cejudo has changed his mind after Deiveson Figueiredo destroyed Joseph Benavidez at UFC Fight Night 169. This fight was for the flyweight title and Deiveson Figueiredo won the fight. However, he could not wrap the flyweight title around his waist since he did not make weight. And this leaves the flyweight division without an undisputed champion.

Henry Cejudo willing to fight for Flyweight title

Well, not for long. It can be argued that since we did not get a champion tonight, Henry Cejudo is still the flyweight king. On the other hand, Deiveson Figueiredo’s claim to the throne can not be denied since he beat the guy he needed to beat to become the champion.

With all these narratives among the fans, there remains a question that needs to be answered. What happens next in the flyweight division? Well, Henry Cejudo’s recent announcement may give the fans some clarity regarding the future of the division.
