In a recent interview, Tony Ferguson made a bold prediction ahead of his fight against Justin Gaethje.
Despite UFC 249 getting postponed, the ‘Boogeyman’ made championship weight on 17 April. While many criticized him for the move, Ferguson saw it as an opportunity to establish psychological dominance over his opponent.
Speaking to theScore MMA, Ferguson revealed what his post-weight cut training looks like.

Tony Ferguson on his training
Ferguson said that his fundamentals are strong and wish to bring the fight to Justin Gaethje. Apart from that, he also appreciated Gaethje for accepting the match.
“Solid! I see nothing but keeping it solid, man. Making sure the basics are covered, and really going after this guy. Really, really getting after it.”

“I got nothing against him (Gaethje), he’s a good opponent. Bushido to him and his team. No animosity man. The guy’s a gamer.” Ferguson said.
Gaethje was brought in as a late replacement for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who pulled out of the fight. Being the toughest guy in the UFC, Ferguson accepted the bout with little to no hesitation. However, the sudden change of the opponent did scare him.
“I mean the nerves were there at the beginning because of the change of opponent. But I got rid of that shit real quick”.
As far as the diet is concerned, Tony prefers to keep it clean and simple. Furthermore, he used the opportunity to throw a jab at the lightweight champion. And referenced one of his own Instagram posts.

Ferguson gives his prediction
He said, “It goes down like a scrap. Its a barn burner man. Dude doesn’t just throw punches, he throws kicks,… he is a freestyle fighter. He’s a brawler. He will be ready for more than 3 rounds. I’m really looking forward to it. So, I hope it goes a couple of rounds. We can give the crowd an actual show.”
