The Island is meant to serve as the main location for international fighters to compete amid CO-VID 19.

International fighters have experienced difficulty in entering the United States due to the travel ban put in place. Although it appears that things will open up gradually Dana White and the UFC are not waiting around.

Darren Till moved up to the middleweight division to take on Kelvin Gastelum. Although the move-up was met with some skepticism, he ended up winning out on the scorecards. With a victory over Gastelum, Till set himself up for big opportunities right away.

He was coming off two brutal losses at Welterweight and needed a fresh start in a new division.

If Darren Till secures a victory over the former Champion Robert Whittaker, he would go onto being in title contention. This would be unprecedented as fighters with longer win streaks are still far away from the top.

Darren Till made it clear on his Twitter that he would put a definitive stamp on the Whittaker fight. Making a second-round stoppage is a bold claim, but would catapult him at the top of the pack.

Darren Till x Robert Whittaker: A Look Ahead

‘The Reaper’ lost his belt to Israel Adesanya in a second-round TKO back in October of last year. Whittaker was coming off ten hard-fought rounds against Yoel Romero. There were questions surrounding his durability following those fights which will seemingly be highlighted once again.

The Southpaw-orthodox duality will certainly be a talking point going into the Whittaker fight with Till. Darren Till is known for his crisp boxing and wide stance. Coming in with different variations to BOLO uppercuts and fade left straights, Till versus Whittaker will be a striking delight.

Additionally, the fight will serve to be a litmus test for Robert Whittaker. Since he is coming off a loss, his mindset going into the fight will be scrutinized.

It remains to be seen whether Darren Till will be able to test Robert Whittaker’s chin. Will ‘The Gorilla’ be able to seal the fight within the second round?
