Jose Aldo doesn’t seem fazed by the challenge of beating Henry Cejudo. Aldo is currently 0-1 in the bantamweight division, with his last outing against Marlon Moraes resulting in a loss. However, despite his poor record in the division, the fighter seems up for the challenge.

With the main event set for May 9th in Brazil, Aldo is looking to add another title in his long list of achievements. Despite his optimism, training for the fight seems to be the biggest challenge, with the coronavirus outbreak putting a halt to his training regimen.

“We’re all isolated. We’re in quarantine, so, when it’s over, we’ll take all the precautions needed and be able to train jiu-jitsu and spar. We’ll be able to do out normal training. The gym is closed, so we’ll open it just for us and train without risking getting contaminated or contaminating others,” said Aldo.

With the cases from the pandemic increasing, training seems to be the biggest challenge for the fighter. Jose is back in Brazil and has quarantined himself along with a select group of training partners.

Is Jose Aldo Underestimating Henry Cejudo?

F***, I only need a week of training to beat Cejudo. I’m more worried about making weight than fighting him. I can be off camp, on vacation, but if you put me in the Octagon with him, I beat him with an eye closed. So, for me, it’s not about sparring, if I only have a month or a week to train, I beat him even if I’m not training. The only problem is the weight, so that’s why I’m eating well. I’m cool about the fight though, don’t worry about it.”

Despite his bold statements, Aldo’s record in the division doesn’t speak for itself. Moreover, he’s seen as the underdog in the fight. Cejudo has been extremely dominant in the division, putting away top fighters such as Tj Dillashaw, Marlon Moraes and Demetrious Johnson in convincing fashion.
