‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis just silenced his critics in fashion as he knocked out veteran Aleksei Oleinik in the headliner of UFC on Vegas 6.

Lewis did not spend time in unveiling his strategic assault over Oleinik and landed 35 significant strikes before knocking him out in round two.

Yet, Lewis is still the number fourth-ranked heavyweight contender and would now seemingly aim the top-three to earn his title shot in the division.

That said, Lewis has already been into a social media callout with Cutis ‘Razor Blaydes’. To which, he responded in the post-fight press conference of UFC on Vegas 6.

In the post-fight conference, Lewis was asked to chalk up his upcoming plans in the heavyweight journey. No doubt, ‘The Black Beast’ has targeted the top-contenders already.

While Blaydes has steadily teased a possible matchup against Lewis, ‘The Black Beast’ has several other names in his radar.

“You know Curtis Blaydes makes sense, Ngannou makes sense, Overeem makes sense, we will just see what happens next week,” said Lewis.

However, it appears that the 35-year-old has his special interests over ‘The Razor’ Blaydes. As per Lewis, Blaydes would seemingly want to defeat him via the judge’s decision, if they ever face-off inside the cage.

Taking note to that, Lewis has also vowed to finish Blaydes, rather than taking the contest to the judge’s hands.

“That will be perfect to fight Curtis Blaydes. So all he is gonna do is shot a ground at me, then hold me, try to win by decision. He is not going to try to finish me. If he do try to finish me, that’s fine, but I believe I could take Curtis down and punish him on the ground. Yeah, put that on the headline.

“I am gonna take Curtis Blaydes down and finish him,” stated Lewis.

A preview on Lewis vs. Blaydes

Looking at the current scenario, the possible heavyweight matchup validates the division to move on.

Blaydes is the number three ranked contender and Lewis is number fourth. Thus, a battle between them would legitimize the upcoming top-contender for the title.

While Daniel Cormier gets to challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight gold at UFC 252, the number one contender Francis Ngannou also in the queue.

That said, Blaydes and Lewis should probably fight each other to pave ways for the heavyweight roster in moving forward.
