On September 26, Paulo Costa aims to add his name to the long list of Brazilian champions in the UFC. The undefeated Brazilian star is on a tear at the moment, finishing almost all of his opponents in his thirteen fight win streak. The only exception to that was his last fight against Yoel Romero.

Costa, who trains with the likes of Henry Cejudo and Patricio Freire, said that it inspires him to train hard to win a belt of his own. However, Paulo has a tall task in front of him in Israel Adesanya, who will defend his title for the second time at UFC 253 at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

Both fighters have been going back and forth at each other for months now. “Skinny” and “Inflated balloon animal” have been their choice of pleasantries. Besides that, both athletes see holes in each other’s games and want to knock each other out.

The Brazilian star thinks Israel Adesanya is intimidated by his size and his knockout power. Flanked by his coach Eric Albarracin to his right, Costa answered questions for about 40 minutes.
Heading into the fight, Paulo Costa insists that he will not let the judges play any part in the bout because he plans on “Destroying” Israel Adesanya. “Borrachinha” has previously stated that he wants to break Adesanya mentally before the fight and then physically in the octagon.

“If he is broken he is mentally weak, I don’t care about him. If he is shi****g his pants before the fight, bad for him. So I don’t know if his mind is broken or not, I don’t care. I go there and I will erase him!”
UFC 253 is a little over two weeks from now. If both men back what they have said inside the octagon, we are in for a spectacular title fight in Abu Dhabi.
