Kevin Lee Opens Up To The Media

“So many things were bouncing and moving — it was very unprofessional on my part, I will say that. I could’ve approached it a whole lot better. Coming down here all the way to Brazil, on not necessarily short notice. But I maybe should’ve given myself more time to prepare for this fight. “- Kevin Lee on his performance at UFC Brasilia

The loss topped a rough week off for the American Lightweight, arriving in Brazil amidst growing concerns over the Coronavirus and then failing to make weight. Kevin Lee ahead of his fight in Brasilia came in 2.5lbs over the weight limit.

“Honestly, it was just the time, the time killed me. I was unprepared for it. I didn’t bring a dietician down, I thought the UFC was gonna cover that a little bit more, they did in my last fight. It was more unprofessional on my part. I can’t do nothing but apologize and blame myself, and I think the way the weight cut went kind of carried over into the fight. It definitely didn’t help.”- Kevin Lee

Lee feels missing the weight played into his defeat. However, he feels he is solely responsible for his loss.

“I felt like the fight was going good, and just got choked, really can’t put it on nothing else but that, tried to take control of the fight instead of just letting the fight happen. I choked myself out.”- Kevin Lee on his loss
