Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov is, without a doubt, the most cursed fight in UFC history. The fight has never happened, despite five bookings for the same. However, one of the half pairing, Tony Ferguson, isn’t overly eager for the contest.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has talked about retiring after going 30-0 in his professional career. That would imply that the lightweight kingpin would only have one fight left after his next title defense against Justin Gaethje.
A couple of days back, Dana White said that he would be willing to risk an asteroid strike to book the fight again. However, ‘El Cucuy’ isn’t really holding his breath for a chance to tarnish Khabib’s undefeated record.

“I don’t give a f**k. Dana says he doesn’t chase after fighters. That dude will say anything. He knows he wants to see that fight. I wanna be real, fans wanna see the fight too. I won’t mind just going ahead and have a grappling match with that one,” Tony Ferguson said while talking to ESPN MMA.
“In any aspect, to be able to compete against the world’s best, to try to put yourself out there to be humiliated or to raise your hand like a f**king champion, that’s what I’m about,” he added.
“I’ll be there for him as a brother” – Tony Ferguson on Khabib Nurmagomedov
Apart from being a UFC fighter, Ferguson also has an academy where he claims to train future world champions. Therefore, he finds himself a bit busy with everything going on in his life. Moreover, the former interim champ doesn’t consider himself a ‘name dropper’ meaning he wouldn’t give out names left and right for his next opponent.
“You gotta understand, Ariel, I’m a busy guy. I’ve been that way for a very long time. I don’t wait on nobody. So Khabib he can retire, he can do whatever the f–k he wants. I’m not gonna hold his hand.”

“You know what I mean. I’ll be there for him as a brother, arms across the mat, but that’s all I can say. I exchanged kind words for him and his father, but it’s business now. It’s back to business,” Ferguson said.

From Tony’s way of talking, it seems that at this point in his career he has his gazed fixed upon two things – good compensation for his fights and fighting someone that will earn him a title shot at the earliest. It’s easy to see that Khabib checks both the boxes. Even then, Tony Ferguson isn’t the type of guy who would chase a fighter for a fight, even if it’s Khabib Nurmagomedov.
