Michael Chandler just ended his Bellator contract on a high-note, as he went on to vanquish Benson Henderson in the first round of their main-event fight at Bellator 243.

‘Iron’ Chandler has now the most number of finishes (13) and most wins (18) in the promotion. While he is a free-agent now, Chandler has already aimed a potential move to the UFC.

Surprisingly, Chandler has also called out Conor McGregor and has vowed to finish him if they ever fight inside the cage.

Chandler, 34, was Bellator’s one of the biggest superstars. However, the ‘Iron’ can potentially rake himself even higher if he gets to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

That said, in the post-fight press conference of Bellator UFC 243, Chandler previewed a possible matchup opposite Conor McGregor.

Chandler hailed McGregor for his unprecedented contribution towards the sport of MMA.

The thing about Conor McGregor is,  I have always loved what he has done for the sport. I have never once hated on him.

In the very beginning, I did say that he is not as good as he thinks but he is better than we think he is and he continues to prove that, I still think he is not as good as he thinks but that’s a testament to his self-belief,” said Chandler.

However, when asked to pitch his thoughts over the possible matchup, the Bellator icon replied, “As far as that fight goes, I finish Conor under two in my opinion, It will be similar to shades like Diaz 1, wear him down, hit him with hard shots.”

“Take every single one oh his shots. He has got that sneaky and strong hard left hand, that he throws straight. You avoid that”

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has also teased Chandler’s probability of entering the UFC via Twitter. However, Helwani appeared unsure whether UFC would pay him the right amount or not.

In response, Chandler clarified that he is here for a good time and not a long time. “Get ready for a wild ride,” wrote Chandler, alarming the UFC and Helwani both.

If materialized, the matchup would probably be intense for both the fighters. However, McGregor is currently retired and Chandler is yet to enter the UFC roster officially.

Even if McGregor returns and Chandler paves his way into UFC, the fight would still face a lot of heckles on the road. McGregor has already garnered a bunch of callous during his absence and the ‘PPV King’ would seemingly want to make his return against an A-lister.

Although Chandler is a huge name in the MMA entity, he is still nowhere close to McGregor’s star power. Yet, Chandler’s inception into the UFC roster would clearly intensify the whole scenario. Who knows, Chandler vs McGregor might get materialized in the future, for the fans.
