UFC Bantamweight Cory Sandhagen is all set to lock horns with Aljamain Sterling, come Saturday. However, that is not all that he is looking forward to.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, “The Sandman” expressed his happiness at the retirement announcement of Henry Cejudo. Apparently, he is looking forward to a “less annoying” time in the division. He said,

“Yeah, I love that Henry left. I’m pumped that Henry left. His personality was annoying to me. I know that it wasn’t real. But it was annoying to me. I think his choices in Aldo and Cruz were also lame. But I see his argument too. He wanted to sell pay-per-view buys and wanted to beat a couple of legends and take off. So, I get it. But he was annoying and I’m glad that he’s gone.”

Well, Cory made sure to make people understand just how “annoying” he thought Cejudo was. Yet, “Triple-C” did divide a whole new class, what with becoming the champion and defending the belts of two divisions. However, now that he’s gone, who is going to get a shot at the vacant belt?

Many people thought that the winner of Cory vs Sterling should get a title show. But it seems like the UFC has other plans. Dana White stated that Petr Yan and Jose Aldo will fight for the vacant title.

Even though many believe that the winner of the bout on Saturday should get a title shot, Cory doesn’t bother if Jose and Yan go at it. He said,

“Although they chose Yan vs. Aldo, I’m still not stressing about it. I still think I’m fighting for a belt at some point this year, whether it’s fall or the end of the year or whatever. I’m not stressing. I’ve been doing really good and I’ve been getting really good matches. So, I’m still comfortable.”

Talking about his plans for the immediate future and his road to the title, he said, “I plan on beating Sterling on Saturday and hopefully fighting for that belt in the fall time. So whether Aldo beats Yan or Yan beats Aldo, it doesn’t matter. That’s just more hype on the division, anyway.”

Do you think Sandhagen will beat Sterling to advance towards a title fight?
