Amanda Nunes will defend her Featherweight belt this weekend. Owing to the Coronavirus, the fight will take place at the UFC Apex Centre in Las Vegas without an audience. This is done to keep a check on the spread of Coronavirus. However, Nunes thinks that the Covid-19 virus has already entered her system once.
When she arrives in Vegas for this weekend’s event, the “Lioness” will be tested multiple times. The first female double-champ in UFC history, Nunes will defend her 145-pound belt against Felicia Spencer. Apart from waiting to step inside the Octagon, she hopes that she will finally get a clear idea of whether she has already contracted the virus or not.
In an interview with Combate, Nunes revealed that she felt sick after arriving back in her home in Florida a few months ago. She felt the symptoms when she returned from a convention in Las Vegas. Nunes never underwent proper testing for Coronavirus. Regardless, she is pretty certain that she has defeated it already.

“I was in Vegas at a convention. There were a lot of people from all over the world. I was exposed to a lot of people there, and when I got home I got sick,” Nunes said. “I soon got sick and had the same symptoms as the corona. And now, going to the UFC, I’m going to see if I really did. Because I arrived from the trip and went straight to bed, with a fever, my body (aching), something I never felt before. I’ve been sick before, and I never felt like I did when I arrived from Vegas, after the convention”.
Amanda Nunes spread her illness to her pregnant fiancee Nina Ansaroff
Nunes, who will be putting her ten-fight win streak on the line on Saturday, is engaged to fellow UFC fighter Nina Ansaroff. The latter is 24 weeks pregnant as of now. However, if Nunes’ assumption is true, then even her fiancee would have contracted Coronavirus while she was pregnant.

“And then I got sick, I stayed in bed for two, three days, and then Nina took it too and got sick. So I believe I went through the corona quickly, but I will know now if I already had it. So I must be immunized, right, because when you take it I think you are immunized, something like that I saw. Then I will really know if it was or not,” Nunes added.

Amanda’s fight with Spencer has been postponed multiple times before finally landing on UFC 250 this weekend. The fight was initially planned for UFC 250 only but in São Paulo, Brazil. However, the pandemic wouldn’t allow the event to go as planned. The UFC then attempted to move the event to UFC 249 scheduled on May 9. Nunes, however, pulled off citing that the condition with Covid-19 was very intense at that time.
