However, the challenger refused to give up. In the fourth round, Miocic realized that Cormier is vulnerable to body shots. He landed some of the most brutal punches on Cormier’s body. Eventually, it forced Cormier to drop his hands which allowed Miocic to land a flurry of punches to the Olympian’s head.
As a result, the fight was stopped and Miocic regained his lost title. Since then, Cormier is desperate for a rematch.

On the DC and Helwani show, Cormier talked about his potential third fight with Miocic. The former champion believes that Miocic is probably avoiding a match with him.
“Maybe he doesn’t want to fight me. Maybe he doesn’t wanna talk about it. I bashed him upside his head for a good twenty minutes. You know what I’m saying? I wouldn’t want to fight me either!” Cormier said.

As of now, there is no date fixed for Miocic vs Cormier 3. But, based on Dana White’s words, it is certain that the UFC is looking forward to booking that match soon. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the event is likely to take place later this year.
However, if the match does not take place by summer, DC has stated that he may retire without fighting Miocic for the third time.
