Darren Till is extremely confident in himself. He will step inside the Octagon next month against Robert Whittaker on Fight Island. The Brit is so sure about getting his hands raised that he has asked a fan to bet £500 on him.

Till vs Whittaker was earlier scheduled to take place on 15th August in UFC’s return to Dublin. However, the shake-up induced by the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the fight to move ahead. The event will take place on Fight Island, which is on Yas Island in Dubai. This will mark Till’s second outing at Middleweight. His 185-pound pounds debut came last year against Kelvin Gastelum via a split decision.

Till opened as a +115 underdog for his fight against Whittaker. On the other hand, the former Middleweight champ is a -135 favorite. However, ‘The Gorilla’ doesn’t agree with the people who are making the odds. He even went to the extent of asking a fan to put £500 on the line for him. Moreover, he even agreed to pay the requisite amount if he losses.

Robert Whittaker will be looking to get back to the title with a win over Darren Till

Just like Till, Whittaker is a former Welterweight who moved up a weight class. However, unlike Till who is starting in the division, the Aussie has seen the highest of highs of his career in the division. He had amassed a nine-fight win streak, which included two back-to-back wins over Yoel Romero. He also held Middleweight gold.

Whittaker’s career has been a story of his grind and will to succeed. Ahead of what should have been a title defense against Kelvin Gastelum, Robert suffered a collapsed bowel. However, the incident couldn’t break Whittaker. He stepped against the interim champ Israel Adesanya at UFC 243. After the loss, Whittaker revealed that he had burned himself out mentally.

Following a break after losing the title, Whittaker will, first and foremost, look to regain his hunger and drive. “The Reaper” has several weapons in his arsenal that are capable of surprising anyone in the division. His wrestling background combined with his meticulous striking gives him an edge over others. But above all this, he will be hoping to get his hunger back with a win over Till.
