The relationship between Jorge Masvidal and Dana White is going through a rather rough patch right now. After Masvidal demanded a release from the UFC, Dana White reminded the world that Jorge still has seven fights left on his contract. Masvidal took to Twitter a while ago and lashed out at the UFC in a series of tweets. He revealed everything that is wrong with UFC contracts right now.
Masvidal had an unprecedented rise last year. With three wins, each bigger than the previous one, his stock rose extremely high. The fact that he could headline a sold-out card at the Madison Square Garden reveals that he is big money for the UFC. However, the dispute began when Masvidal felt he will be paid less than his previous fight.

“Gamebred” brought to light the fallacies in how the UFC handles its contracts. He accused them of extending the contract every time he won to keep him engaged. Moreover, he complained that the UFC is not flexible with their negotiations. Every time Masvidal is presented with a contract, he only has two options – take it or leave it.
I’m in a contract that I had to take to get paid. Same way I got a new contract to fight till. Then a new contract to fight Nate. They keep extending the amounts of fights to my contract to keep me locked up and when I say I only want a 4 fight contract it’s take it or leave it.

The negotiation is take it or leave it. If I lose you can cut me and not pay out the rest of the contract. If I win I’m not in a position to renegotiate the contract? My dad left a communist regime and has prepared me my whole life

Jorge Masvidal questions why all the big names are having issues with the UFC
Masvidal isn’t the first one that has expressed anger over how the UFC chooses to deal with its fighters. When Henry Cejudo retired last month, there were speculations that he did so as he was unhappy with the amount that he was getting paid. However, Dana said that “Triple C” was tired of competing at the highest level.
The issue became much bigger when Jon Jones went on a Twitter tirade at the UFC President. He accused him of lying about negotiations around fighting Francis Ngannou. Jones was so frustrated that he demanded his release from the UFC. While he retracted on that front, he still vacated his Light Heavyweight belt.

Furthermore, Conor McGregor also announced his retirement from the sport. Even “The Notorious One” is not happy with the way UFC is forcing its decisions on its fighters. Masvidal cited the example of all these fighters to strengthen his case against the UFC.
Why are all the major names having issues? Conor, Jones, cejudo. We have to take it or retire. I love fighting and this is the fight of our lives

Amidst all this, Dana White has maintained his stance that the fighters are losing their mind because of everything that is going on. He has repeatedly said that the UFC is not forcing anyone to fight. However, with all these big names criticizing the UFC, the issue has become bigger than ever. The UFC will have to look to settle differences with all of them as they are big draws for the organization.
