Demetrious Johnson is arguably the greatest flyweight ever. The former UFC champion now fights in Asian MMA promotion, ONE Championship. DJ is considered by many to also be the pound-for-pound best fighter on the planet. Mighty Mouse is extremely technical and well rounded. He always features as part of the GOAT conversation alongside the likes of Jon Jones.
‘Mighty Mouse’ sat down with ESPN MMA’s Ariel Helwani to give his thoughts on the fight game and claimed that he would be able to beat Jon Jones.

Johnson explained that he believes that he possesses the skill set to test Jon Jones if they were the same size. DJ touched on the GOAT conversation and said, “Yeah, I would (vote for Jon). Here’s the thing, if somebody told me, like why would you vote for Jon, I would be like because I believe he can beat anybody at light heavyweight and I truly believe he can beat everybody at heavyweight.”

‘Mighty Mouse’ however, did not sell himself short. He said, “I mean, don’t get me wrong. If I was Jon Jones’s size, I’ll probably f**k him up, because I know mentally and physically and skillfully I would push him. Like I’ve pushed people before and I know I would push him.”
‘Mighty Mouse’ added that if he retained his mental capacity, his discipline, and his skill set and was of the same size as ‘Bones’ he would get into the cage and prove himself. He added that he proved the same throughout his career.

Johnson might be the most gifted and coachable athlete MMA has ever seen. He said, “I know if I were his size I would be wrestling the hell out of him. I would strike with him, I’ll be clinching with him. I’ve shown that I can do it, when I fight a striker, I can wrestle. If I fight a grappler, I can grab, you know. I’ve just shown that I can do it all.”

Johnson is currently 2-0 in ONE Championship and to win the flyweight title. Because of the weight cutting rules in ONE, flyweight fighters fight at 135 pounds. ONE Championship recently announced that DJ will face champion Adriano Moraes next.
