Darren Till opened up on who he would like to fight should the opportunity arise. In conversation with Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA, he said, “Cannonier. I would love to fight Cannonier.”

When notified that ‘Tha Killa Gorilla’ is already booked to fight Robert Whittaker at UFC 254 Till seemed unperturbed. He said, “I don’t care, I’ll stop him.”

At this point, he smiled and indicated that he would take things as they came with the primary focus being on his recovery. Till sustained knee damage in the early rounds of the Robert Whittaker fight, but gamely carried on right until the end.

“Anyone, I don’t care. I’m not bothered, I’m not fussed, I just want to heal up and do things right.”

Darren Till is focused on a swift recovery

The recovery process will take the fighter a while. This ensures that he cannot work out for a while. Here, ‘The Gorilla’ lets fans in on a little secret about his preference concerning workouts, too.

“I don’t know what I can do now, it’s not like I can move my legs, it’s not like I can go to the gym or even do upper body training. Weights? But weights bores the life out of me. So I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I just want to stay healthy and stay connected to the craft.”

When commenting on an opponent, Till name drops Jack Hermansson and Derek Brunson. These are the two divisional fighters who have come off dominant wins in the last 2 weeks.

“Jack’s just come off a win, Derek just beat Edmen, so let’s see how it goes. Nobody can call me out right now, but I do want to fight as soon as possible.”

‘The Joker’ had indicated that he wants to fight the winner of Fight Island’s final fight. However, given that the winner will fight Cannonier, he may have to settle for ‘The Gorilla’ as he attempts to solidify his newly attained 4th spot in the rankings.
