Former two-division champion Henry Cejudo took a dig at Alexander Volkanovski in his recent tweet.

Soon after he defeated Dominick Cruz, Henry Cejudo announced his retirement. However, he has not fully stepped away from MMA. Over the past couple of months, the “King of Cringe” has consistently made the headlines. “Triple C” now wants to become “C4” by dethroning the reigning featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski.

But why is he targeting the featherweight belt now? Well, the opportunity could not get any better for Cejudo. Earlier, the division was ruled by the former champion, Max Holloway. Given his size, dethroning Holloway would have been an arduous task for Cejudo. Since Volkanovski — a much smaller opponent than Holloway — dethroned Hollway, winning the third belt is now easier than ever.

And Cejudo is trying everything in his power to get that match. Lately, the American fighter has been targeting Volkanovski on Twitter. Cejudo said that he will beat Volkanovski and take Holloway’s belt, referencing to the former’s controversial split decision win over the latter.

“I’m excited to fight alex and take away max Holloway’s belt @danawhite #bendtheknee,” Henry Cejudo wrote on his Twitter. The tweet was later deleted from his account.

Yes! And now may be the perfect time to book the fight. As of now, the featherweight division does not have a definite contender. A couple of fights that will take place in the future will decide who will face off against the champion next. By that time, the UFC can definitely make Volkanovski vs Cejudo happen.

Moreover, both men have the star power to draw in a significant amount of PPV buys. But many problems are stopping this fight from happening. The champion seems uninterested in fighting Cejudo. He believes that the Cejudo fight is a waste of time as it won’t do the division any good.

Also, what happens if Cejudo dethrones Volkanovski? Will he continue fighting in the new weight class or retire again? Should he win and leave, what happens next? And how will it affect the status of the next champion? Besides that, Dana White is a smart man. He will not repeat the same mistake he did with Georges St-Pierre.

What are your thoughts? Should Alexander Volkanovski fight Henry Cejudo?
