UFC Middleweight Darren Till spoke to TSN’S Aaron Bronsteter ahead of his scheduled main event on Yas Fight Island. The fresh-faced 185-pound fighter is set to headline the final event in Abu Dhabi against former champion Robert Whittaker. The fight is a high stakes affair that is sure to bring lucrative opportunities in the weight class.

The fighter from Liverpool, England was formerly a staple of the Welterweight division. Not to mention his meteoric rise at 170-pounds also included a shot at the world title. However, certain setbacks in the division prompted a move-up in weight. Till still has history against some of the top competitors of his former division.

“When I say this from my heart, I’m truly gutted about my relationship with Mike Perry. Cause we were good friends, and we were DMing each other and it was fun. I don’t know what happened, I must have crossed a line.”

The genesis of the feud began when Darren Till made a spoof website to troll his former friend. Moreover, he began to jokingly pass comments towards ‘Platinum’ Perry’s girlfriend over his social media platforms. The instances were not received well by Perry who briskly cut ties with the former title challenger.

“He owes me money for the rent cause I’m living in his head rent-free. He owes me some money. I wish him the best, I hope he’s okay.”

The news of their heated rivalry became publicized within the MMA community when Perry spoke out against Till. On numerous occasions, the Welterweight had fighting words for Till who appeared to be enjoying himself. The Englishman is one of the biggest social media trolls given the state of his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The two former friends don’t seem to be on the path to making amends anytime soon. Chiefly, the move to another weight class has helped temper the rising vitriol the two had for each other. The MMA community awaits to see whether reconciliation is in ever on the cards in the future.
