Even though Burns missed his hard-earned title shot, he is not letting his morale go down. In fact, he seems to be without symptoms and is already thinking about his next fight!

However, the whole situation does beg the question: Where exactly did Burns contract the virus?

Well, the sheer communicability of the virus itself opens up a huge horizon of possibilities. But it seems as though Gilbert has an idea about the origins of his contraction.

In an interview with Brett Okamoto from ESPN, ‘Durinho’ said,

“The thing is that Florida opened up, that was the thing. In Florida, people are not wearing masks, people are everywhere walking. So I think that’s how we got it.”

Well, cities across the globe are indeed striving to open up soon. But crowding at any place only makes the pandemic spread even further. Burns believes that is how the coronavirus entered his gym.

As it turns out, Burns was not the first person from his gym to test positive for the coronavirus. He said,

“I think the first person that got it was Kenny, a Brazilian coach. After that, we got Aung La Nsang, the ONE Championship champion. And then a couple of Heavyweights. And then it was me.”

Of course, the positive tests of so many fighters collectively warrant some off time for the gym. Burns said,

“I believe the training is going to close. We have to close the gym a second time, wait, and get everyone tested. And then open again. I think it’s not a gym thing. I think it’s a Florida thing because here it’s all over.”

Gilbert Burns is now in a much better condition. Even at the onset of his affair with the virus, he did not show any symptoms besides a heavy headache.
