Fighting on UFC’s ‘Fight Island’ has been a memorable experience for the fighters. However, the ride came with its share of difficulties. Apart from a long flight, the fights took place early in the morning. This required fighters to adjust their routine and body clock. UFC middleweight Darren Till hopes that his opponent isn’t at a hundred percent due to the same.

Fight Island is located in Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. To maintain the usual timing for the audience in the USA, the main card starts at around four in the morning. While talking to Luke Thomas, Till dived into the effects of fighting at an unusual time.

Don’t say that,” Till said when he was asked if the timing could affect his performance. “Don’t wanna wake up at 5 in the morning and feel sluggish.”

If you prepare then you’re gonna fight to the best of your abilities. I suppose it’s a bit of a problem-fighting at 5 or 6 in the morning. No one wants to wake up or stay awake and do that stuff. I think it’s gonna be a minor schedule problem. I don’t think it’s gonna be too big of a problem,” he added.

Darren Till Reveals What He Expects From Robert Whittaker

The fight with the former champ will be Till’s second outing at middleweight. Robert Whittaker, on the other hand, is coming off a loss against current middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya. Till believes the Aussie went in the fight with a wrong approach.

Tactically I think his [Whittaker’s] game plan all along was to jump in. As a striker, he is very good at counter-attacking. He was jumping in shots like looping long outer range shots. Adesanya is a lot longer than Robert. Adesanya, with the skill that he is, it’s a given that he is gonna catch him at some point or the other. Perfect game plan by Adesanya. I don’t think the game plan by Rob was that good,” Till said.

A former welterweight just like Darren Till, Whittaker admitted that he had burned himself out right around the fight with Adesanya. Nonetheless, there is no doubt about the caliber of the former champ. Therefore, the Brit hopes that he doesn’t have to face the best version of Whittaker.

“I just hope he is very very sluggish at that time in the morning. Very stiff so that I can catch him in the first round and go home,” Till said jokingly about how he plans to beat Whittaker.
