The history

Tyron Woodley knows how to make a name for himself. Recently, the ‘Chosen One’ made it all over the headlines for his comments on Israel Adesanya. The social media battle began when Woodley expressed his desire to clean up the welterweight division. And move up a weight class to challenge the middleweight champion, Adesanya.

He also belittled Adesanya for his lackluster performance against Yoel Romero. Consequently, ‘The Last Stylebender‘ fired back at the former welterweight champion.

Soon, Adesanya’s teammate, Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker was dragged into the battle. As a result, Hooker and Woodley engaged in a lengthy war of words on Twitter.

“Tyron is reaching because he is broke, or he’s about to be broke,” Adesanya said. “He’s like, ‘I need anyone that’s not Leon Edwards. Anyone that can be a big cash grab.’ Tyron would take an a** whooping just to fight me as long as he gets paid good, put it that way.”

“I dissected it. And he’s reaching cuz he needs money.” Adesanya added. “I just can’t see any other reason why he’d do that.”

Woodley was slated to fight Leon Edwards in London. However, that fight fell through because of the Coronavirus. According to Ariel Helwani, all fighters were paid $20,000 as compensation. Adesanya, on the other hand, is coming off a decision victory over Romero. If the stars align, Adesanya will face off against Paulo Costa next.
