The social media battle began when Woodley expressed his desire to clean up the welterweight division. And move up a weight class to challenge the middleweight champion, Adesanya.

Soon, Adesanya’s teammate, Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker was dragged into the battle. As a result, Hooker and Woodley engaged in a lengthy war of words on Twitter.

While the conversation between Hooker and Woodley might have been over, Adesanya and Woodley are still going at it. In a recent interview with theScore MMA, Adesanya “Dissected” his relationship with Woodley and reached to the conclusion that Woodley is garnering attention for money.
“Tyron is reaching because he is broke, or he’s about to be broke,” Adesanya said. “He’s like, ‘I need anyone that’s not Leon Edwards. Anyone that can be a big cash grab.’ Tyron would take an a** whooping just to fight me as long as he gets paid good, put it that way.”
“I dissected it. And he’s reaching cuz he needs money.” Adesanya added. “I just can’t see any other reason why he’d do that.”

Woodley was slated to fight Leon Edwards in London. However, that fight fell through because of the Coronavirus. According to Ariel Helwani, all fighters were paid $20,000 as compensation. Adesanya, on the other hand, is coming off a decision victory over Romero. If the stars align, Adesanya will face off against Paulo Costa next.
