UFC fighter Edson Barboza expressed his disdain with the UFC after his removal from the Lightweight ranking. Barboza put on a great performance against Dan Ige, but came on the short-end, losing via a controversial refereeing decision. While Barboza was removed from the rankings, Ige jumped 4 places. Moreover, Barboza did not place in the Featherweight ranking as well.

“The whole world knows I won,” says Edson Barboza
“They took me off from the lightweight division ranking. Ige stepped up 4 positions and I am not even in the ranking in the featherweight division, in a fight that the whole world knows that I won. It doesn’t make any sense,” said Barboza on twitter.
UFC president Dana White said Barboza deserved to win. However, this was not enough for the fighter.

“There’s no way he won the first two rounds. No way he won. I’m sure I won both fights. I’m upset, but at the same time, I’m cool, because I know I’m doing the right thing. I showed everyone I did great in this new weight class, and I’m sure it will be even better next time,” said Barboza to MMA fighting.

Another major talking point is that Edson Barboza wants a win bonus for his performance against Ige. 16 out of 18 media members ruled in favor of Barboza. What was supposed to be a 2 fight win-streak has turned into a 3 fight losing streak after Dan Ige.
Refereeing and judging decisions have come under scrutiny after recent UFC events. Additionally, several fighters have voiced their opinion on poor judging decisions. Some experts suggest that the commentators themselves might influence certain decisions, as they’re very audible. Both Chael Sonnen and Ariel Helwani brought up similar discussions during their podcast.
