Tony Ferguson is at it again! Recently, Ferguson’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach claimed that the “Boogeyman” has already begun training. Ferguson suffered a massive amount of damage in his fight against Justin Gaethje.

Gaethje landed career shortening strikes on “El Cucuy” before stopping him in the fifth round. As a result, Ferguson lost the opportunity to face off against the reigning lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Tony also suffered from a broken orbital bone. However, his team stated that surgery is not required.

Many fans and pundits believe that the reason behind Ferguson’s loss was the unnecessary weight cut which he underwent just three weeks before the fight.

Yet Tony claims that it was never the reason. On an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Eddie Bravo—Ferguson’s BJJ coach—said: “I talked to Tony [Ferguson] yesterday and he said it has nothing to do with the weight. Justin just fought an awesome fight.”

Furthermore, he also revealed that their team was not ready for a striker like Gaethje.

Tony Ferguson has begun training

The last time Ferguson suffered from a horrific injury, he took his recovery into his own hands. And it seems like this time won’t be any different.

According to Bravo, the former interim champion is handling the loss better than most fighters. He also announced that Ferguson has begun training.

“He’s already training. He is training today, he is ready to go back. It gave me the chills listening to him talk last night. His ‘Champ Sh*t Only’, that’s in his losses too.

“He goes, ‘Listen! Everybody out in the world is suffering financially. And I got to go in there and make a whole bunch of money and my family is secured. I lost technically but I won in life. I’m just ready to go back in there and do it again.’ “

Even though Ferguson expressed his desire to get back into the cage, he will not be able to do it soon. After his loss to Gaethje, Ferguson was handed a 60 days medical suspension.
