Daniel Cormier’s time in the Octagon is slowly coming to an end. At 41 years of age, Cormier has hinted that he may be looking at retirement if the coronavirus lasts for a substantial time. Daniel Cormier already has a commentating role in the UFC. However, the former two-division champ isn’t against taking on bigger roles with the organisation.

A while back, Ben Askren conducted a poll on Twitter asking if people could see Cormier becoming a future UFC President. Almost two-thirds of the voters were positive for a massive promotion for Cormier. Even former Middleweight champ, Chris Weidman, could see him as the President.

Dana and DC have a very cordial relationship between them. But that wouldn’t stop the latter from stepping up as the UFC President if he is given the opportunity.

“I think anybody in the world in their right might would,” Cormier told MMA Fighting when asked if he would like to become the UFC President. He added that it would be an honour to be at the helm of an organisation that does so much more than just putting up fights.

Daniel Cormier believes Dana White isn’t going anywhere for a long time

Dana White has been the figurehead of the UFC for a long time. Even when the Fertitta brothers were around, he was the more recognizable face. His aggressive way of handling business is often credited for the UFC’s success.

It is probably because of all these factors that Cormier believes White will be sticking around for a long time.

“I think if you ever have an opportunity or anyone has an opportunity to do a job like that, they would be insane not to hope to have that opportunity. But Dana’s going to be here for a long time. Dana’s the man,” said Cormier.

If not the President, then Cormier will happily take any executive role that gets offered to him by the UFC. The former Olympian said that he has made good relations with people in the organisation after moving here from Strikeforce.

The parallels between Cormier and the UFC lies in the work that they do for the youth. DC has high regards for the Endeavour owned organization for the time, energy and effort it invests in the youth.

“That stands out to me because that’s something I do. I know how important it is for Dana and the UFC to support local programs and support athletic clubs, support academic clubs,” added DC.
