“If Khabib’s fighting Gaethje in September. Conor fights in July vs ‘Big Nate’, ‘Nasty Nate’, the third fight… This is the one. It’s the only one that makes sense on Fight Island.”

Nate Diaz submitted ‘Notorious’ to hand him his first defeat in the UFC 196 in 2016. Five months later at UFC 202, the Irish fighter returned the favor via a unanimous decision win.

In both fights blood was drawn, however, McGregor said, “it was Nates blood on me.”

Diaz has been out of action since losing to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244. He, too, is without a suitable opponent and is due a return to the Octagon. He would be eager to bust ‘Notorious’ open and prove to the world once in for all that he had done so on both previous occasions.

Meanwhile, ‘Notorious’, who pursued endeavors outside the Octagon said he wants to make up for the lost time and fight thrice a year. He beat Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 and would have to fight soon if he is to attain his goal.

Dana White downplayed the fight as he thinks they are “just talking s*it to each other.” However, with DC’s comments, the fight is back in the limelight and has momentum.

Will we see the trilogy fight take place at Fight Island? It will certainly be the massive big name fight to kick off the UFC’s Fight Island program.
