Holm has an extremely illustrious career in the world of combat sports. Her legacy in the world of professional boxing coupled with her amazing stint in MMA contributes to making her the most accomplished combat sports athlete of all time. She has held titles in multiple divisions of boxing, as well as the Bantamweight division of the UFC.

But it looks like her thirst for greatness is not quenched yet. She believes that she will most definitely get a run at the title again. And the match with Irene Aldana will be the perfect set-up for it.

Despite the fact that she has had numerous opportunities at winning a title again after losing out on her own in 2017, she is willing to shoot her shot again.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, she said, “I’ve fallen short of getting that title back more than once. And it’s frustrating. But, I know I keep fighting the very top-ranked girls, so I’m constantly right there. I’m still aching for it. I still want it.”

Will Holly Holm rise to break the streak of unsuccessful title shots?

Holm made history in the world of MMA by becoming the first fighter to down Ronda Rousey. Not only that, but she also ended “Rowdy”‘s three-year reign as the ruler of the division. However, she lost the Bantamweightgold when she met Meisha Tate in her first title defense.

Thereafter, she challenged for Germaine de Randamie the inaugural Featherweight championship, where she lost again. She went back to competing at Bantamweight, where after a successful fight, she was again eligible to fight for the Featherweight title.

She challenged Cris Cyborg for the same, and yet again lost the title bout via unanimous decision.

Her last title fight was for the Bantamweight title against “The Lioness”Amanda Nunes. She lost the fight via KO/TKO in round one.

Thus, she has had her fair share title shots and losses. Nevertheless, she intends to bash on regardless and continue doing what she does for as long as she can. She said,

“You’ve got to win fights along the way and when it comes, I can’t let the opportunity slip through my fingers again. Obviously, it’s right there.”
