Darren Till is probably the most genuine personality in MMA. Before challenging for the welterweight title, Darren was undefeated as a pro. However, Tyron Woodley handed him his first loss.

Subsequently, the Scouser faced off against Jorge Masvidal in London, England. Till looked good and even knocked down Masvidal at one point in the fight. Unfortunately, he was knocked out in the third round.

The loss was hard to deal with for Till. Firstly, he had never been knocked out as a pro. And secondly, he was put to sleep in front of his home crowd. Masvidal stole the show from Till.

Following his second loss in a row, Till fell in a dark hole. He wrecked a hotel room in Spain and even stole a Taxi. “The Gorilla” was fined £8,500 for the incident.

Darren Till makes a comeback

After having terrible weight cuts at welterweight, Darren moved up a weight class. He was scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum in his tenth middleweight fight (UFC 244: Masvidal vs Diaz).

Many critics counted him out as they believed that Kelvin was a dangerous matchup for Till. Per BetMGM, Gastelum (-228) was a heavy favorite over Till (+165).

“I’ve given my heart and soul into this since I was a kid. I had a lot of family and people telling me that there were other paths and other jobs to do… I’m seeing Jorge Masvidal walking out. He knocked me out in my last fight and I’m here with these guys, these ‘BMFs’ and I am a BMF.

“But it was hard, really hard. To tell you the utmost truth, I didn’t even want to go out there tonight, I was thinking of a way to fake an injury,” Darren Till told Adam Catterall of BT Sport.

“I was so terrified, I was scared man. Not scared of fighting, I enjoy it,” Till added.

Furthermore, he said that he is happy to overcome his fear and also claimed that he is not jealous of Masvidal. Till has not competed since his fight with Gastelum. The company was targeting a match between him and Robert Whittaker but there is no news as of late.
