Taking a kick from Jon Jones is like taking a punch from Mike Tyson in his prime- not good for one’s health. The UFC undisputed heavyweight champion, who is resting after undergoing multiple surgeries recently and hence not training has been going around the world meeting fans and mixing up with fans.

And in one of his recent public appearances, one brave fan came up to the 36-year-old and asked to be kicked by him. The results are even worse than one would expect and show the kind of damage a professional fighter’s kicks can do.

Jon Jones kicks fan

Jon Jones was supposed to face former champion and the man considered the heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic, in what was being dubbed as ‘The Battle of the GOATs’ at UFC 295 last year. However, barely two weeks from the November card, ‘Bones’ tore his pec while training and had to undergo surgery.

The champion is expected to be out till mid-2023 after which he will face Miocic in a career-defining fight. Jones himself has called it the “most important fight of my career” after which he is rumored to retire. Seemingly on a farewell tour, Jones was approached by a fan at a recent interview.

In a video doing the rounds, the fan asked the heavyweight to give him one of his famous leg kicks as hard as he could. Jones obliged and kicked him on his left thigh. However, the fan was not satisfied and urged Jones to kick him harder. The champion did so, spinning him around and causing him to limp and nearly collapse.

In an update to the incident, the fan showed the aftermath of taking a leg kick from Jon Jones. He posted a video showing him walking on crutches and a swollen, horribly bruised thigh. Lesson learnt, hopefully.

Back to the heavyweight GOAT fight, while the Stipe Miocic fight may be Jones’ last fight, there is one opponent he would consider not retiring for.

Jones still interested in fight with Francis Ngannou

Jon Jones dominated the UFC’s light heavyweight division for over a decade where he earned his stripes as arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time in an attempt to cement his legacy as the greatest, Jones decided to move up and compete for the heavyweight title a few years ago.

This set up a future clash with then UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, whose strength and durability were expected to be a tough challenge for the dynamic, creative, striking, and technical prowess of Jones. However, Jones stayed out for around three years to bulk up, during which Ngannou exited the organization.

Jones has indicated that he will retire after fighting Miocic, unless a fight with Ngannou, now signed with the PFL, materializes. “I feel like the Stipe fight will be plenty for me. I really don’t feel like I have much to prove after beating Stipe… I do believe a Francis Ngannou fight would be worth entertaining not retiring. I think a Francis fight would come with some serious revenue, and that would make it worth my while,” he said in a recent interview.
