Dana White promised us a fight at UFC 249, and he gave us one! As announced earlier, Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje will serve as the main event for UFC 249.

The past few days have been tough for MMA fans. All hopes were lost when news broke out that Khabib Nurmagomedov would not be traveling amidst a global pandemic. Many doubted whether the event would take place after all, but the UFC President turned out to be a man of his word when he made this announcement on his Twitter.

Although the location remains undisclosed, we are guaranteed a fight. And it might be the baddest fight in the company’s history.

As most fight fans are aware, Tony Ferguson is on a twelve fight win streak; the man has obliterated every single opponent since his loss to Michael Johnson. He is one of the most well-rounded fighters in the UFC. Ferguson can fight anywhere. It does not matter whether the action takes place on the feet or the ground.

On the other hand, Gaethje is a knockout artist with brutal power in his hands. He is riding a 3 fight wins streak against some of the best in the lightweight division. While most fighters would avoid fighting Ferguson on such short notice, Gaethje did not let the opportunity pass by.
