The reporter quizzed Gaethje on his unconditional upbringing, “I learned a lot about your upbringing recently, that your mom used to drug test you to make sure that you weren’t taking drugs, and that you were staying on the straightened arrow and wouldn’t allow you to go for sleepovers at friend’s houses.”

“I think it should be traditional,” ‘The Highlight’ replied. “My parents, you know, are my support system. If I was ever to mess up the last thing they were going to do is kick me out of the house.”

“They’re gonna lock me in my room and make sure that I’m in my room.” Gaethje abode by his parent’s belief that “Until you’re 18, you don’t have the ability to make the choices that you should be making.”

“I’m glad she drug tested me every week.” The interim UFC lightweight champion continued, “Because I wasn’t in a position to not make terrible choices.”
