‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Kamaru Usman will remain out of UFC action for the next couple of months, following a medical suspension. Usman, 33, successfully defended his welterweight strap against Jorge Masvidal at the main event of UFC 251. However, the close contest saw both men inherit some serious damage. As a result, Kamaru Usman has reportedly been handed over a medical suspension of 180 days.

ESPN reporter Marc Raimondi broke the news to the world. Reports suggest that Kamaru Usman has a broken nose due to his latest appearance at UFC 251. However, a medically approved nasal X-ray will clear the welterweight champion.

According to reports, Jorge Masvidal is also on a 30-day suspension due to a forehead laceration.

Both Masvidal and Usman will remain out of action for some time. However, that did not stop them from garnering callouts from fellow UFC fighters. Leon Edwards has already expressed his interest in matching up against Jorge Masvidal.  The duo had a heated rivalry back in 2019, which turned into a hideous physical altercation in the aftermath of UFC Fight Night 147. And Leon Edwards wants to settle the beef inside the octagon now.

On the other side, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ can potentially defend his title against Gilbert Burns next. Burns was earlier scheduled to face Usman at the UFC 251 headliner. However, Jorge Masvidal replaced him after he tested positive for COVID-19. Since Masvidal is out of the title way now, Burns will be next on the line.

Usman also dropped a bomb by revealing that he is ready to fight Georges St-Pierre. However, it does not seem like GSP would return against Usman at this point in his career. Thus, Usman vs Burns seems logical and upcoming right now.
