Conor McGregor vowed to remain active in the octagon after his sensational return against Donald Cerrone, earlier this year at UFC 246. However, ‘The Notorious’ one took his fans by surprise after announcing his retirement in the wake of UFC 250.

Later, McGregor cited boredom as one of the reasons behind his decision to hang his gloves up.

Despite that, he has been constantly teasing his return against several big names. While UFC fans still expect him to act on it, Dana White has ruled out McGregor’s potential return anytime this year.

To add some twist to the tale, Nate Diaz has also denounced McGregor recently, following Dana White’s statement.

Nate Diaz slams Conor McGregor once again

Speaking in the latest segment of My Mom’s Basement podcast, White clarified that McGregor is not going to fight this year.

Albeit the UFC president hinted at McGregor’s resurgence by the next year, White doesn’t see the Irishman lacing up the 4-ounce gloves.

“I’m not saying he won’t fight in 2021, but I’m telling you we don’t have a fight planned for him in 2021. But I guarantee you he will not fight in 2020. Conor McGregor is retired,” declared Dana White.

Now, McGregor’s arch-rival Nate Diaz has also offered his two cents over the whole issue. Nate took to Twitter and wrote, “ Lol sit ya a** down till 2021”.

Although Diaz did not take names, it is prominent that he has been aiming at McGregor with his recent tweet.

Surprisingly, it can indicate the materialization of Diaz vs McGregor 3 shortly. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, both McGregor and Diaz are due with one more fight in their epic rivalry.

Since both the men have been equally inactive in recent times, a matchup between them looks almost inevitable. It won’t be surprising if Dana White stages the iconic trilogy contest to cement McGregor’s return in 2021.

Possible opponents for McGregor and Diaz

However, to note a potential opponent for the Irishman, we need to know the weight class he is willing to fight in. On the other side, Nate Diaz has expressed his desire for fighting McGregor or Masvidal on several occasions.

Meanwhile, McGregor would also like to bring his name back as a relevant entity in the promotion following a big win. That’s where the American southpaw comes in.

If a fight like this does materialize, Diaz vs McGregor 3 can very well go down in the books as one of the biggest rivalries of all time. And the massive PPV sales that a highly anticipated fight like that will bring in are just a cherry on top.

That said, Dana White can fix the matchup next year and surprise the fans with a potential thriller to cherish for a lifetime.
