Marlon Moraes vs Petr Yan is set to headline UFC Kazakhstan. UFC’s trip to Kazakhstan has been in the talks for a while. And if it is to go down, it will be headlined by the two bantamweights fighters.

Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan are both aiming for a title shot against Henry Cejudo. Currently, the title fight is between Jose Aldo the contender and Henry Cejudo.

Marlon last fought on the UFC 245 fight card. He fought and beat the former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Irrespective of this, Dana White and Henry Cejudo considered Jose to be a more apt title contender for Cejudo.

On the other hand, Marlon before the Jose fight lost to Cejudo. He lost to him via technical knockout and lost the opportunity of capturing the then-vacant bantamweight title. Moraes currently holds a record of 23-6-1 overall.

Meanwhile, Yan will step into the cage with a spectacular 9 fight win streak. 6 of these have come from within the UFC octagon. He’s beaten the likes of John Dodson, Jimmie Rivera, and most recently, former bantamweight title challenger Urijah Faber. He knocked out Faber in dominating fashion at UFC 245. But if he takes on Moraes then it is going to be the biggest test of his career yet.

This is the first time Petr Yan will be competing in the main event matchup. But, he has gone five rounds before when he was the ACB bantamweight champion. Technically this fight is an eliminator for the next title bout. The winner of this will most likely take on the winner of Jose vs Cejudo.

UFC Kazahstan is supposed to take place this June, but we don’t have any official confirmation yet. Irrespective, this matchup holds the future of the Bantamweight in its hands. It will pay off for either of these two fighters to walk in and steal the show.
