UFC Welterweight Diego Sanchez spoke to Mike Swick on the Real Quick Podcast and gave an interesting insight into the early days of his career in the UFC. Diego Sanchez is a pioneer of MMA in the leading organization in the world, having appeared on TUF season 1. Moreover, the long-time veteran is still under contract with the organization and last fought in February 2020.

‘The Nightmare’ touched on a hilarious story that involves fan-favorite fighter, Nick Diaz. Sanchez told Swick that he had a strained relationship with Stockton’s favorite son, and the two hated each other. The brief story about Nick Diaz was a reminder of why he is endeared by the MMA community, much like his brother Nate.

“Me and Nick Diaz hated each other man. Nick Diaz used to send me emails. He found my email, he talked to one of the MMA Journalists who gave him my email, and he would email me hate mail. Bad sh** man, talking sh** about my mom, talking sh** about my dad, just trying to get under my skin with everything he had. He hated me, he hated The Ultimate Fighters.”

Nick Diaz built a legion of loyal fans based on his eccentric personality and rebellious nature in the sport. Not to mention, his prowess as an elite 170-pound fighter further bolstered his profile amongst the fans. Moreover, he was equally beloved by the media who often time champed at the bit for a new soundbite.

Chiefly, his in cage-antics against Anderson Silva stick out in the minds of fight fans for its sheer absurdity. He often believed in using mental warfare inside and outside the cage to rattle his opponents. The aforementioned incidents of sending hate mail hilariously encapsulate everything there is to love about 209’s elite brawler.
