Director Dax Phelan believes Michael Bisping brings an X-Factor to the role

In the last few years, Bisping has acted in a number of movies, namely xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Den of Thieves, and Triple Threat to name a few. The fact that Bisping has tons of experience as a fighter will certainly help in playing the role.

For obvious reasons, Mike brings an authenticity and X-factor to the role that no other actor ever could,” director Dax Phelan said (via Deadline).

“His contributions to the script have been insightful and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to explore this character with him.

The movie will be a bit different from the numerous boxing movies that have already been made. In Phelan’s own words, if the movie was a Rocky film, it would have been the story of Spider Rico.

The book on which the movie is based attained international critical acclaim and also made the cut for William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2015.
