Gastelum seems to have found his ideal opponent in Edmen Shahbazyan to kick start his career again. ‘The Golden Boy’, Shahbazyan was on a hot streak after making his way to the UFC from Dana White Contender Series.

With Edmen heading into the Derek Brunson match in August 2020, many fans were hyping up Shahbazyan to be a future champ. However, ‘The Golden Boy’ suffered his maiden professional defeat via a third-round TKO.

It is a smart move by Gastelum to pursue Shahbazyan who still has some star power to his name. While both fighters are well rounded, Gastelum’s Octagon experience should be the difference-maker.
