Jon Jones (26-1) and Israel Adesanya (20-1) have gotten themselves into another tussle. A recent barrage of tweets between the two UFC superstars lit up social media. Over the last year, Stylebender and Jones have kept butting heads. On multiple occasions, Izzy maintained that he would love to move up and face Jon Jones, who is arguably one of the greatest talents in the UFC.

Currently undefeated in the UFC, Adesanya most recently defended his middleweight title against Paulo Costa at UFC 253. Meanwhile, Jones has relinquished his light heavyweight title as he plans to move up to the heavyweight division.

The Twitter spat began when Adesanya spoke of ‘raw-dogging’ Jones, a term made famous by current UFC welterweight, Darren Till. Jones’ didn’t hold back either and said, “Yeah, I’m done tweeting, the man is now talking about raw dogging me. Has Eugene given you permission to come out yet?”

When a Twitter user pointed out that Adesanya wouldn’t want to be locked in a cage with Jon, Jones said, “We all know this, but my pride won’t allow me to stop replying to this clown. But I’m done after that last shit, dude made me uncomfortable. Going to work out, good night everyone.”

While things might have started with friendly jabs between Adesanya and Jon, they recently took a turn for the worse. This came when Jones brought up Stylebender’s father. In response to this, Izzy dragged Jon’s late mother into their verbal spat.

Will the Octagon ever see Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya face off?

After his fight with Paulo Costa at UFC 253, Adesanya spoke to ESPN about potentially moving up to light heavyweight. He even called himself the best 205-pounder in the world.

Since Jones has already relinquished his light heavyweight title to move up a weight class, a fight between him and ‘The Last Stylebender’ seems unlikely. However, the immense interest in the two potentially facing off could change things.

The PPV buys for Adesanya’s UFC 253 fight were estimated to be around 700,000. It proved that Adesanya has become a star in his own right. The prospect of having a huge PPV event for this possible mega-fight should make the UFC seriously consider setting it up.

Will fans ever get to see Jones vs Adesanya? Only time will tell.
