It is now official. Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight Justin Gaethje in the lightweight title unification bout. This means the original champion will return to fight an interim champion, so the winner becomes the undisputed champion. However, Nate Diaz is not very excited by this card and has expressed his dissatisfaction.

Khabib lost his ailing father and coach Mr. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov on July 3, and since then it was unclear when he will resume. ‘The Eagle’ last fought and won against Dustin Poirier in UFC 242. Justin Gaethje is also on a winning run from the last four fights, his most recent win coming in May 2020.

Nate Diaz unhappy with Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje

Nate is out of play after taking defeat from Jorge Masvidal last year. Ever since, there has been news about his potential clash against Khabib, but nothing could ring the bell in Dana’s ears. Now, finally, something has surfaced, and they set Khabib against Gaethje to fight on October 24. The venue remains undecided.

Nate Diaz reacted to Ariel Helwani’s question on who wins saying, “Who gives a f*** they’re on the same team, it’s not even real #phonymoth******ers”. That’s the mean Nate for you!

It remains unclear who Nate Diaz might next face, but he is a tough guy to impress. Earlier last year, he had told ESPN, “Why would I wanna fight somebody who don’t wanna fight and I already slapped? Belt’s already mine. I’ll fight for a different one now. So I’m OK with not fighting Khabib.”

Where is Conor McGregor hanging?

By the thread! He is supposedly retired, but they drag his name in news for every other fighter who challenges him. The Notorious lost his bout against Nate Diaz in UFC 196 and came back to take revenge on UFC 202. He might like to do the same against Khabib Nurmagomedov, too. Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has already said that he has just two more fights left in him. So will it be Conor McGregor or Georges St-Pierre or anyone else, as his 30th challenger? That is another important angle.

Meanwhile, we must admit that Gaethje is a ‘cardio machine’ and has a great striking ability. So he can prove to be the toughest nut Khabib gets to crack to date.
