All good things must come to an end, like one’s career. In a recent interview with JD Sport, Conor McGregor talked about hanging up his gloves. This time for good.

Conor McGregor one of the most popular names in the combat sports industry understands that his tenure as an athlete will eventually come to an end. He has taken certain steps to ensure a steady flow of finances after he stops collecting fight purses.

The two-division UFC Champ made an emphatic return to the octagon earlier this year. The Notorious one took out Donald “The Cowboy” Cerrone within 40 seconds at UFC 246. This was his first bout after his matchup against Khabib at UFC 229 and his first win after November 2016 when he faced Eddie Alvarez.

“Athletic life is short right? As cruel as it sounds no-one really cares about the athlete post career. I mean it’s as simple as that and that’s not just fighting its in any sport. So, I have studied many athletes’ careers both in combat sport and in professional sport and just analysed it. I saw the do’s and the don’t and things that can create an after life in the game. For, me I’ve just gone down things I’m passionate about. I went down the fight game because I’m passion about it – I wouldn’t have reached the levels I’ve reached in the fight game without having passion for it. And the whisky game, the fashion game you know.”

Conor has always been determined to set up a comfortable life for his family and himself. He has achieved the same thanks to lucrative business ventures and the fight purses he has collected. Conor McGregor claims he has been fortunate enough to establish options for himself outside of the world of fighting.

Referring to his brand of Irish whiskey called Proper No. 12 and his clothing line August McGregor. But The Notorious one is still at the top of his game and as long as he is still a part of the industry fans will look forward to watching him step into the octagon.
