UFC Flyweight Paige VanZant depends more on Instagram for her fame and income than her exploits inside the Octagon. She made the headlines last month when she posted a series of naked pictures along with her husband. However, she has made it clear that her actions weren’t an attempt to grab attention. Instead, she did it because her fans loved it.

VanZant’s husband, Austin Vanderford, is also a professional fighter. He competes in the Welterweight division of Bellator. The couple firstly posted an image where they were both working out in the gym and were naked. They craftily concealed their naughty bits using a medicine ball and doubly edged bag. VanZant said that she did not plan the experiment. It happened in the spur of the moment.

“Austin and I had taken a video of himself or a picture in the gym, and I had glanced over and I was like, ‘Were you naked out there?’ And he was just wearing short shorts. Cause he works out in really tiny shorts,” VanZant said while talking to MMA Fighting.

“And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have the best idea ever,’ and so we just kind of staged it where I was on the medicine ball and he had our double-edged bag covering his butt. Then it just kind of sparked from there because people liked them so much.”

This is not the first instance when Paige pulled off such a stunt for the camera. She has also made an appearance in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. However, for her husband, the experience was something new. That doesn’t mean that Vanderford was shy about it in any way.

The fact that he has been wrestling since he was five implies that he has a habit of dressing scarcely. He admits that he has fun being naked. He added that his wife sees him naked all-day. Subsequently, he finds no issue why the rest of the world can’t have the same experience.

As far as VanZant is concerned, the whole experiment brings her closer to her husband. The fact that she is announcing her love makes her feel that it is growing.

“It’s not a social media stunt – it’s not to get attention,” she said. “I just think I want to spread the idea, we’ve been married for over a year and a half, and just to love your significant other, and have fun with them, and how important it is to just make the most of the relationships that you have.

“We’re just having a really good time and trying to spread love. We’re married, so I’m not embarrassed, I’m not shy about the way we live our life at all.”

Despite making limited appearances inside the Octagon, owing to her broken right hand, VanZant still has a staggering 2.5 million followers on Instagram. To put that into perspective, it’s more than the combined followers of Justin Gaethje, Dominick Cruz and Henry Cejudo. All three of them will compete on the main event and the co-main event of UFC 249 this weekend.
