UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan has been undefeated in the promotion till now and holds notable wins over six contenders. Two of them are former World champions Jose Aldo and  ‘California Kid’ Urijah Faber.

However, his arch-rival, Aljamain Sterling, considers Yan’s MMA resume to be as weak as “single-ply.” ‘Funkmaster’ Sterling has already expressed his desire to compete for the bantamweight gold and he is leaving no stones unturned in demeaning the current champion via social media.

Aljamain Sterling, currently on a five-fight win streak, is a legitimate contender for the next 135 lbs title. Which means he can square off with Petr ‘No Mercy’ Yan shortly. Although the fight is yet to be officially announced, Sterling has started to denounce Yan already.

Sterling, 30, newly took to social media and posted an image of Yan to mock the Russian. No wonder it has made the bantamweight tale extensively intense for the fans.

Aljamain Sterling mocks bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, via social media

Sterling posted an image of Yan from the Russian’s latest title victory at UFC 251 against Jose Aldo. However, ‘Funkmaster’ replaced the UFC world championship belt with a paper strap in the image. No wonder this clear mockery can turn in to one of the biggest feuds in the bantamweight history.

In the caption, Sterling targeted Yan and clarified that he is coming for him. “Paper Yan is a paper champion. His resume is single ply, too thin to even wipe my ass with it. Hasn’t beaten a single guy in the top five. So you know I’m coming on that no tissues….pause!” wrote Sterling.

While Yan is yet to respond to the mockery, fans have already started to speculate a possible matchup between the duo. Looking at the current scenario, the matchup seems legitimate. Champion Yan is on a seven-fight win streak and Sterling is boasting a 5-0 in his last five. Thus, a matchup between them makes sense at this point.

Bantamweight title tale after ‘The Triple C’ left

Henry Cejudo’s shocking retirement post-UFC 249 brought new contenders into the title race. Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo and undefeated Yan were staged to fight for the vacated belt at UFC 251. Yan impressively knocked out Aldo to become the new champion.

Aldo is a true veteran of the sport, and despite passing his prime, the Brazilian appeared strong in the fight. The title contest went all five rounds. However, Yan managed to knockout Aldo in the final round to claim the UFC gold.
