Several critics were upset as they believed that Aljamain Sterling should have gotten the title shot before anyone else. After all, Sterling was on a four-fight win streak against some of the best contenders. Nevertheless, Sterling choked out Cory Sandhagen at UFC 250 and extended his streak to five wins.

On the other hand, Aldo and Yan faced off against each other at UFC 251. As expected, the young and hungry Yan decimated Aldo to grab the UFC gold. Yan now seeks a new challenger, and Sterling believes that it is his time.

Aljamain Sterling hypes himself up

“The UFC bantamweight division is a gauntlet. And I’m the last man standing. I took out up-and-comers, undefeated prospects, and I even took out contenders that were in the top five, that knocked out former world champions. I’m the next guy in line. So Petr Yan, get ready baby. ‘The Funk’ is coming.”
