“You need to thank the team that helped elevate your profile”-Jorge Masvidal
“Hey, @Twitter fact check this for me. Phil Daru and COVID Covington were fired from ATT. Phil, you were using the gym, and name dropping all the fighters from our gym. You need to thank the team that helped elevate your profile to even be able to mention the great athlete’s names.” Said Masvidal on twitter
Masvidal particularly fired shots at coach Phil Daru. Masvidal said that Daru was lucky to be part of the team in the first place and was an average coach. Moreover, Masvidal revealed he was more concerned about filming than actual training.

“You tried to take credit for judo Kayla Harrison, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Dustin Poirier, Junior dos Santos, and many others. I trained with you twice and when I got there each time you had a movie set, set up, and were more about filming than training. You don’t know more than coaches that have won titles for themselves and their athletes like Mike Brown and Steve Mocco. So please stop being the victim when you are lucky we allowed you to stay as long as we did. So next time you’re on a former s&c guru podcast get your facts straight”. Masvidal said on twitter
Despite this news, Colby Covington and Phil Daru have maintained that they chose to leave American Top Team. Covington revealed on Ariel Helwani’s podcast about his decision to leave and that he still considers Dan Lambert as a mentor.
This is the latest in a series of back and forths between the two camps.
