Jan Blachowicz wants to fight Israel Adesanya for what should be his first title defense. The Polish fighter who won the belt last month by defeating Dominick Reyes has called out the middleweight kingpin for a fight next year.

The middleweight champ Israel Adesanya has thought about moving up to light heavyweight. Following his win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253, Adesanya said that he will talk to his coach Eugene Bareman about moving up a weight class in a bid for a second UFC title. Therefore, if he has considered the same, the champ at 205-pounds is waiting for him.

Blachowicz tweeted just a while ago that if Adesanya is willing, then he is ready to step inside the octagon in March.

Blachowicz has had quite a turnaround to his UFC career in his previous few fights. Following Jon Jones vacating his title, it was time for a fresh face at the throne. Despite being the underdog, Blachowicz pounced on the opportunity and defeated ‘The Devastator’ via a first-round TKO.

At the same event where Blachowicz won the 205-pound title, ‘The Last Stylebender’ cemented his status as one of the best current champs on the roster. In a clinical performance, the Nigerian-born Kiwi outclassed Paulo Costa en route to a second-round TKO victory.

For his next title defense, Adesanya wanted to fight Jared Cannonier, on the condition that ‘The Killa Gorilla’ defeated Robert Whittaker. However, Adesanya’s demand wasn’t met as ‘The Reaper’ came on top at UFC 254. With Cannonier out of the equation, the situation has become more simplified for ‘The Last Stylebender’.

Coach Bareman, while talking to NewsHub, said that they will now try to negotiate a light heavyweight title fight in early next year. This is because there is no other fight at middleweight that interests him now. The No. 1 contender is Robert Whittaker, the same fighter whom Adesanya defeated to have the belt wrapped around his waist.

Not so long ago, Adesanya seemed the kind of fighter who wanted to go down the same road as Anderson Silva. He laid out his plans to clear out the division just like ‘The Spider’. However, the light heavyweight division isn’t the most stable right now. Therefore, it isn’t very hard to see why Adesanya is aiming to become a double champ right now.
