Khabib Nurmagomedov will not have Championship fights on his mind right now. This is because he is dealing with a grave personal issue involving his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. The patriarch woke from his coma on Thursday, but now reports have emerged about the onset of a heart attack, due to which he is still critical.

Father of Khabib Nurmagomedov remains critical 

As per RT Sports, the coronavirus caused Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s heart attack. He had undergone heart surgery a year ago. This April, he fell sick and subsequently suffered from pneumonia. However, he said he was fine and went about his routine.

This proved to be his undoing, as reports say Abdulmanap was diagnosed with coronavirus upon arrival in Moscow. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma after surgery.

As per Nurmagomedov family friend Ramazan Rabadanov, Abdulmanap’s condition is serious but stable. He also reveals that the 57-year-old is yet to speak following the procedure. 

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bitter rival Conor McGregor sidestepped from mocking the Dagestani to tweeting his best wishes to the family in their troubled times. 

UFC President Dana White to put out a heartfelt statement to the invalid Abdulmanap. He said, “Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is a true martial artist who lives a life of pride, honor, and respect. He instilled those same values in his son, world champion Khabib, at an early age and was always in his corner throughout his career. I know how close Khabib is with his father and I’m saddened to hear about his current state. My thoughts are with Abdulmanap and the Nurmagomedov family as he continues to fight”
