On the other hand, Glover Teixeira is on an amazing resurgence in his career. The 40-year-old is on an astounding 4-fight win streak. His last loss came at the hands of Corey Anderson back in December 2018.

In his last stint, he completely dominated ‘Lionheart’ Anthony Smith to win via TKO.

What makes Glover Teixeira vs Thiago Santos such an amazing matchup?

As both Glover and Santos are exciting fighters, the thought of them going at it together inside the Octagon is exhilarating in itself.

Even though they both show immense promise in the stand-up game, the way they pursue it presents a perfect contrast. While Thiago is more of an explosive striker, Glover practices the traditional paced and meticulous boxing. However, this does not mean that Thiago throws wild shots in the air. His explosiveness comes along with the ability to lure in opponents and strike at the opportune moments. This is why he has delivered some highlight-reel KOs.

On the other hand, Glover strikes when the metal is hot. He shows frantic hand movements and goes all-in as soon as he spots even a millisecond’s worth of space. Yet, he does not carry the frantic style when he does deliver the strikes. Instead, he keeps his eyes on the prize and prefers to make extra sure that his punches hit gold.

Their striking does differ a lot in the department of kicks. While Glover prefers to use his fists, for the most part, Thiago holds the ability to employ his kicks to deliver devastating blows to his opponents. The fact that both fighters have the same reach and heights sits perfectly well with their striking co-ordination.

Thus, one can be sure of an absolute dogfight while the fighters are standing up. On the ground, Teixeira has the ability to maneuver things to his favor. Nevertheless, Thiago might just employ and polish his skills as a BJJ black-belt in preparation for Glover.

Moreover, the fight will give either opponent a chance to get back into the race of title-contention, perhaps as far ahead of the rest as they would like to be.
