Sean O’Malley seemed unhappy with the USADA for suspending MMA fighters based on their history of marijuana use. The rising UFC superstar believes that it is unfair to obsolete a recreational drug, citing how he keeps a balance between marijuana and his UFC fights.

While O’Malley has always been vocal and open about his marijuana use, he has never failed a drug test in his life. However, he still doesn’t support the anti-doping bodies that suspend fighters on such basis.

Sean ‘Sugar’ O’Malley recently sat down with TMZ sports and discussed several things going around his career. However, when asked to reflect his opinion over Elliott’s suspension, the bantamweight superstar appeared vexed.

As per O’Malley, being a veteran, Elliott should have known when to stop in taking marijuana.

“I know Tim Elliott, he is a vet (veteran). You should know, you gotta quit at least a certain amount of days out.”

Giving his own example, the American stated that one should curb their marijuana consumption a couple of weeks before their MMA bouts.  According to ‘Sugar’, knowing when to stop using marijuana is the most important thing for a fighter.

“For me, I am a couple of weeks out and I am good and you know I haven’t failed the test yet.  My last five fights or whatever been in Vegas. So, you just gotta quit before you know a couple of days out,” said O’Malley.

He further clarified that Vegas allows a certain amount of marijuana in a fighter’s system. However, O’Malley still billed it to be an embarrassing law.

“It’s embarrassing, as a rule, we are in 2020, com’n.

“I think it will eventually change, you know. It’s got to the science, just the reality,” said the undefeated bantamweight.

O’ Malley is currently on a four-fight win streak and has been aiming at the bantamweight gold for months. However, he is yet to get his chance against Petr Yan.

Meanwhile, O’Malley has called out several big names including former World champion Cody Garbrandt. As per ‘Sugar’, he would knockout Garbrandt inside the cage, if they ever face off.

‘Sugar’ paved his way into the promotion through Dana White‘s Contender Series. Since then he hasn’t failed to entertain the MMA community with his crisp fighting style and extraordinary mic skills. Despite being just four-fight-old, he has already become a prominent face for the promotion.
