UFC lightweights Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker had a heartfelt moment of camaraderie between two combatants following a Twitter exchange. The two fighters were the headliners of UFC on ESPN 12 that took place in Las Vegas. MMA pundits and fans almost unanimously agree to the fight being a contender for ‘Fight of the Year’.

‘The Hangman’ is an anomaly in the promotion being an international fighter having to travel to the states. Most fighters under this category have been scheduled to duke it out on Yas Fight Island come July.

Dan Hooker who is based in New Zealand has to undergo stringent two-week isolation upon his arrival. Not to mention he took to Twitter and released a heart-warming picture of being separated from his daughter at said location.

Dustin Poirier being the perennial gentleman he has shown to be, was quick to offer a kind word to his opponent. The exchange truly encompasses the bond that two fighters share after laying it on the line inside the cage.

The two fighters displayed insane durability and toughness which did not go unnoticed by MMA fans. Moreover, fighters in the UFC were also swift to shower praise for the 5 round slugfest.

With a victory over surging contender in Dan Hooker, Poirier has likely secured a high profile fight.  Moreover, the divisional champion is slated to unify the 155-pound belt next, speculated for a September date. Additionally, this might leave Poirier with a money fight with Conor McGregor inked in his future.
